Newborn Holistic Ministries founder Elder C.W. Harris has never been one to stop fighting for our community. In fact, even after our work establishing our Martha’s Place and Jubilee Arts programs, he’s still at work! Most recently he’s been working to establish Strength to Love 2, a program serving ex-offenders in our community that has turned to urban farming both to create jobs and offer fresh food in our community. Check out the great article HERE in Al Jazeera America by journalist Alia Malek.
This year’s Jubilee Arts art fair again joined forces with our community partner No Boundaries Coalition to hold a joint community celebration on May 17 at our intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Presstman Street.
The event was a huge success bringing community members together to celebrate our neighborhoods in what once was a vacant park dominated by drug dealing. But check out the photos HERE to see what a tremendous community asset this area has become!
On Saturday, June 2, 2012 Newborn Holistic Ministries added the latest in a series of murals that it has created over the years along Pennsylvania Avenue. This one was different however because it was directly ON the street itself! The project was implemented by Newborn’s Jubilee Arts program during our annual community arts fair and was planned and led by mural artist Whitney Frazier.
