Here at Intersection of Change we are working hard to ensure that we can continue to provide our community development services to our west Baltimore communities. Like many others, we’ve had to make the adjustment of how we do this through our three programs and want to share what this looks like.
Martha’s Place: Our work of serving women in our Martha’s Place program supports them in their path overcoming substance abuse and homelessness. This falls under the federal government’s essential services Public Health designation and we are working to provide a mix of remote and onsite services to ensure full ongoing support with services ranging from case management to addictions counseling. Our residents are practicing physical distancing and also implementing additional cleaning with regular wipe-downs of common shared surfaces.
Jubilee Arts: We have had to suspend our on-site arts classes, youth business classes, and public art projects and events but have begun to offer online programming. Please keep a close eye on our Jubilee Arts website for the latest updates including our new ART@HOME page and Instagram page for our remote art projects and our RESOURCE page – as we continue to develop our remote offerings.
Strength to Love II: Our work serving community members returning from incarceration with employment and addressing food apartheid in our community continues under the federal government’s essential services Food and Agriculture designation. We are taking additional safety precautions of practicing enhanced cleaning of our produce processing area, ensuring physical distancing for our farm staff while working on the farm, and utilizing safety procedures of wearing masks.
While so many businesses and workers are facing layoffs, we feel grateful that we have been able to keep nearly all of our staff working during this COVID-19 crisis. We thank our funders, individual donors, and partners for making this possible and ask everyone to continue your support of our work addressing poverty related challenges. Under-resourced communities such as ours typically face disproportional impacts during times of crisis so we ask for your continued support as we work to ensure we continue our much needed services!
